Reflection
A single word like "finally" often marks a moment of long-awaited relief, an answered prayer, a resolved struggle, or a breakthrough after a long season of waiting. These moments matter precisely because waiting is difficult, and Scripture takes seriously how hard it can be to trust God's timing. The Bible is full of long waits: Abraham waiting decades for a promised child, Israel waiting generations for deliverance, the disciples waiting between crucifixion and resurrection not fully understanding what was happening. The Psalmist writes of waiting patiently for the Lord, who inclined and heard his cry (Psalm 40:1), a picture of persistence rewarded rather than instant gratification. Whatever specific breakthrough is being marked, the emotion behind a simple "finally" is deeply human and deeply biblical: the mixture of relief, gratitude and exhaustion that comes after holding on through uncertainty. It is worth remembering such moments not just as endings but as evidence that faithfulness during the waiting itself had value, even when the outcome was still unclear.
