All religions point to one man

Reflection
The suggestion that all religions point to one man is a bold claim worth examining carefully rather than accepting or rejecting too quickly. It is true that Jesus is mentioned, sometimes with respect, in several major world religions, recognised as a prophet in Islam or a wise teacher in various other traditions, which is historically unusual and worth noting. Christian faith, however, makes a claim beyond mere respect or recognition: that Jesus is not simply a shared moral figure across traditions but the unique Son of God, the one through whom all things were made and are reconciled to God (Colossians 1:16-20). This is a stronger and more specific claim than saying various religions converge loosely around him as a admired teacher. It is worth being careful with statements that flatten real theological differences between religions into a comfortable but imprecise unity, since genuine respect for other faiths does not require overlooking what each actually teaches. The more interesting and honest question is not whether religions broadly acknowledge Jesus, but who Christians specifically claim he actually is.
Questions to sit with
- How do you personally understand who Jesus is, beyond being a shared figure across religions?
- Do you find it helpful or misleading when different faiths are presented as pointing to the same truth?
- What would change for you if you took Christ's claim to divinity seriously rather than seeing him as one teacher among many?
