Christianity is boring

Reflection

Somewhere along the way, we turned the Bible into something that feels distant, dry and predictable. A book you're supposed to read because you should. A collection of ancient stories. Something associated with quiet churches, old hymns and dusty pages. But here's the thing, the Bible is anything but boring. It's full of murder, betrayal, war, love, sacrifice, miracles, temptation, courage, failure, redemption and impossible hope. It tells the story of a God who pursues people who repeatedly run from Him. A man who forgave His executioners. A fisherman who denied Jesus three times and later became one of the boldest voices of the early Church. A persecutor who became an apostle. A teenage girl told she would carry the Saviour of the world. And at the centre of it all is Jesus. Not a distant religious figure, but a man who walked among ordinary people, challenged the powerful, touched the untouchable, forgave sinners, confronted hypocrisy, wept with those who were hurting, and claimed something extraordinary about Himself. The Bible isn't boring. Perhaps we've just forgotten how to tell its story. And perhaps a generation that thinks Christianity has nothing to say needs to discover that the Bible is actually asking some of the biggest questions humanity has ever asked: Why are we here? What is truth? Why do we know right from wrong? What is love? Why do we suffer? What happens after we die? And could there really be a God who knows us, loves us and wants us to know Him? The Bible isn't a dusty book from the past. It's an invitation to discover the truth. Maybe Christianity isn't boring. Maybe we've just been presenting it that way.
