Prank turns into testimony

Reflection
Some people come to faith through years of careful reading. Others are ambushed by it in the middle of something they were not taking seriously at all. Stories where a joke turns into a genuine encounter belong to the second kind, and they are more common than tidy accounts of conversion suggest. Scripture is full of people who were not looking. Saul was travelling to arrest Christians when he was stopped on the Damascus road (Acts 9:1 to 6). The woman at the well had come out for water, not a conversation about her life (John 4:7 to 26). The pattern is not that God rewards sincerity of approach, but that he meets people where they actually are, including when they arrive with the wrong motive entirely. That should be encouraging for anyone who feels their interest in faith started from somewhere unimpressive. Where a thing began matters far less than where it leads.
Questions to sit with
- Have you ever found something real while looking for something trivial?
- Does the way your interest in faith started make you doubt whether it counts?
- What would it mean to take seriously a question you first raised as a joke?
