Jesus is God in quran?

Reflection
Questions about how the Quran describes Jesus usually come from genuine curiosity about where Islam and Christianity overlap and where they part. The overlap is real: the Quran honours Jesus, called Isa, as a prophet born of the virgin Mary, and credits him with miracles. That is more common ground than many people expect. The divergence is equally real. The Quran explicitly denies that Jesus is divine and denies that he was crucified. Christianity holds both as central, not as optional extras: the incarnation, that God himself entered his creation, and the cross and resurrection, through which Christians believe salvation is accomplished (1 Corinthians 15:3 to 4). These are not differences of emphasis that careful wording can dissolve. Honest dialogue means naming them plainly while treating the other person's convictions with respect, rather than pretending the two faiths teach the same thing about who Jesus is.
Questions to sit with
- How much do you actually know about what another faith teaches, rather than what you assume?
- Why does the question of whether Jesus is divine matter so much to Christians?
- Can you disagree deeply with someone's beliefs and still honour them as a person?
