    Reflection

The claim that it cannot be that hard to prove Christianity wrong is a bold one, and it is worth engaging honestly rather than either dismissing it or being intimidated by it. Christianity makes falsifiable historical claims, chiefly the resurrection of Jesus, and Paul himself acknowledged that if it did not happen, the entire faith collapses. This is unusual among world religions, most of which rest on philosophical or mystical claims that are far harder to test historically. Two thousand years of sustained scholarly attention, much of it hostile, has not produced a decisive disproof, even as debate about details continues vigorously. That is not the same as proof, and honest believers should resist overclaiming certainty where genuine mystery remains. But the confidence behind such a challenge often underestimates just how much serious historical and philosophical work has already gone into both defending and attacking these claims across many centuries.

    • What would count as sufficient evidence for you, one way or the other?
    • How comfortable are you holding genuine confidence alongside acknowledged mystery?
