    Reflection

A conversation centred on the resurrection returns to the claim that stands or falls the entire Christian faith, as Paul himself acknowledged when he wrote that without it 'your faith is futile' (1 Corinthians 15:17). Lee Strobel's investigative approach and John Burke's research into near-death and related experiences bring different methods to bear on questions about life beyond death, historical evidence in one case, contemporary testimony in the other, and both deserve to be evaluated on their own terms rather than blended together uncritically. The resurrection's historical case rests chiefly on early, multiply attested testimony rather than on any single dramatic account, and that distinction matters for anyone assessing the strength of the claim. Whatever specific arguments are made in this conversation, the underlying question remains unavoidable and personal: not simply whether the tomb was empty, but what that emptiness would mean for how a person lives now, today, in light of it.

    Questions to sit with

    • What would change in your daily life if you were fully convinced the resurrection happened?
    • How do you weigh historical evidence differently from personal testimony when both are offered as support for a claim?
    • What is the strongest case you have encountered for or against the resurrection?
