Reflection
Every generation of Christians faces its own set of hard questions, about suffering, about exclusivity, about whether faith can survive honest scrutiny, and Frank Turek has built a public ministry around meeting such objections directly rather than avoiding them. The instinct to answer rather than dodge has biblical warrant; Paul reasoned in synagogues and marketplaces alike, 'explaining and proving that the Messiah had to suffer and rise from the dead' (Acts 17:3). Answering objections well requires humility as much as knowledge, since some questions have satisfying responses and others require living with tension rather than resolution. What matters most is the posture behind the answers: patient rather than defensive, curious about the person asking rather than merely eager to win the exchange. Toughest objections rarely yield to a single clever line; they are worn down, if at all, by sustained honesty over time, which is a slower and more demanding kind of apologetics than the phrase suggests.
Questions to sit with
- What is the toughest objection to Christianity you have ever encountered?
- How do you distinguish between a question with a good answer and one that requires living with mystery?
- What posture helps a hard conversation about faith stay constructive rather than combative?
