    Reflection

A documentary promising scientific evidence for God enters territory where enthusiasm can outrun rigour if care is not taken; the relationship between science and belief in God is genuinely debated among thoughtful people on multiple sides, not a settled matter awaiting the right film to close it. What such projects can do well is show that many working scientists find no contradiction between careful empirical work and religious faith, and that certain features of the universe, its fine-tuning, its intelligibility to human minds, have struck serious thinkers as suggestive rather than conclusive. The psalmist's ancient observation still applies: 'The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands' (Psalm 19:1), a statement of wonder rather than a scientific proof. Christians can welcome such documentaries as useful conversation-starters while resisting the temptation to treat any single film or argument as a final, decisive case, since faith ultimately rests on more than accumulated scientific inference.

    Questions to sit with

    • What scientific observations, if any, have struck you as suggestive of design or purpose?
    • How do you hold scientific evidence and personal faith together without overstating what either can prove?
    • What does it mean to you that the psalmist speaks of wonder rather than proof?
