    Reflection

To be somebody, truly seen and known, is a longing that runs beneath much of modern life, often masked by achievement, image or constant comparison. Scripture offers a striking counter-message: long before any accomplishment, a person is already somebody to God. Isaiah 43:1 declares 'I have called you by name, you are mine', identity rooted entirely in belonging rather than performance. That is a radically different foundation from the world's usual metrics of worth, which shift constantly and are never fully satisfied. A song exploring this theme likely speaks into the ache of feeling invisible or overlooked, whether in a crowd, a workplace or even a family. The gospel's answer is not to chase visibility harder but to rest in a truth already settled: known, named and valued by the one who made you. That security does not remove ambition or desire to contribute, but it does relieve the exhausting pressure of proving one's worth to everyone else.

    Questions to sit with

    • Where do you tend to look for validation that you matter?
    • How does being 'known' by God differ from being known by other people?
    • What would change if you truly rested in your worth being already settled?
