Zach Silva - Holy Revival (Official Music Video)

About Zach Silva

Zach Silva is a self-taught Indigenous solo artist from Claremont, California, who writes, arranges and releases his own records through his own Zach Silva Records label.

What they are about as an artist

Silva writes across styles, releasing laid-back, Cali-reggae-flavoured songs of faith alongside the rest of his catalogue, and shares each new release directly with listeners rather than through a label.

What this song is about

Silva has not published an explanation of this song, so what follows is a reading of the record itself. 'Holy Revival' is a prayer in song form: the title borrows the church's oldest word for renewal and asks God to bring it again — not to an institution but to ordinary hearts, homes and streets. Delivered in Silva's laid-back, Cali-reggae style, it treats revival as something to long for and celebrate rather than an idea to argue about; when the release was shared, the sound itself was flagged as 'different'. For anyone whose faith has gone quiet, the song works as a simple ask — God, start something fresh in me.
