Reflection
There is something honest about the image of being stuck in clouds: unable to see clearly, unsure which way is up, waiting for the fog to lift. Many of us know that fog, whether it comes from grief, doubt, exhaustion or simply the ordinary business of being human. Scripture does not pretend this haziness away. The Psalms are full of cries from people who cannot see the road ahead, yet who keep speaking to God anyway. 'Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me,' says Psalm 23:4. Faith is rarely a sudden burst of sunshine; more often it is trusting that the sun still exists behind the grey. Songs like this give words to seasons when clarity is in short supply, and remind us that being stuck is not the same as being abandoned. God works in clouds as much as in clear skies, and sometimes it is only afterwards that we see how he was guiding us all along.
