Riley Clemmons is a Nashville-based contemporary Christian pop singer-songwriter who began writing professionally as a young teen and has charted multiple radio hits.
Faith journey and beliefs
Clemmons has said her faith is the explicit foundation of songs like 'Keep On Hoping', written to point listeners to 'the hope that comes from God' amid personal and cultural anxiety.
What this song is about
Riley Clemmons has said that when writing "Fighting For Me" with her co-writers, they asked themselves what unites everyone, landing on the idea that "everyone wants love, to be loved and to be fought for." She has explained that this reflects the beauty of God: "He sees us, and His heart is of kindness and acceptance," and that she hopes the song reminds listeners how valued and worthy they are, with all their flaws seen and accepted by him.

Reflection
The idea of God fighting on someone's behalf runs through scripture, perhaps nowhere more vividly than at the Red Sea, where Moses tells the frightened Israelites, 'The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still' (Exodus 14:14). That is a strange kind of battle instruction: stillness rather than striving. Many people carry the exhausting belief that they must win every struggle, relational, spiritual or emotional, through their own effort alone. A song titled 'Fighting For Me' pushes back against that isolation, suggesting instead that there is a God actively engaged on a person's behalf even in seasons that feel unwinnable. This does not remove personal responsibility entirely, but it reframes the burden. Battles fought alone are heavier than battles fought with help, and knowing someone, especially God, stands actively for you rather than watching passively can change how a hard season is endured. Rest, in this light, becomes an act of trust rather than surrender.
