Science pointing more and more to the Bible

Reflection
Claims that science is pointing more and more to the Bible need careful handling, since science and Scripture ask different kinds of questions and it is easy to force alignment that is not really there. That said, some genuine developments, particularly in cosmology and the fine tuning of physical constants, have led even sceptical scientists to describe the universe's origins in terms that sound strikingly compatible with the idea of a beginning and a design behind it. The opening words of Genesis, that in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth, were once mocked by those who assumed the universe was eternal, yet modern cosmology now widely accepts that the universe had a definite starting point. That convergence does not prove every biblical claim scientifically, and it should not be oversold, but it is a genuinely interesting area where honest enquiry has narrowed rather than widened the gap between ancient text and modern discovery.
Questions to sit with
- Do claims like this make you more curious or more cautious?
- Have you looked into the science behind the universe's origins for yourself?
- How do you personally hold together scientific enquiry and biblical faith?
